Computer & Internet Use

The Mackenzie Public Library offers 6 public computers stations and several laptops with access to the internet and Microsoft Office. Computer users do not require library memberships.

There are 12 laptops for youth to use.

Library staff are available to provide computer, internet and device instruction as time allows.

While we don’t require signups for blocks of time, if you have been on for a long time and someone else is waiting, you may be asked to move temporarily to allow them access.

Please see our Public Internet Access and Website Privacy Policies for terms of use.

Wireless Services

The library provides free wireless services through the Recreation Centre. The network is LSHotSpot-New and no password is required.

Children and Gaming Computers

There is no age restriction on using our computers, though children 5 and under must be accompanied at all times while in the Library. Library staff cannot monitor children on the computers. Responsibility for all content viewed or accessed by children in the library belongs solely to the parents or guardians of those children.

We have three AWE Early-Childhood Literacy Stations loaded with educational and fun games which our younger patrons can use without adult supervision.

Printing

Printing is available for a cost of $0.25 per black and white page or $0.75 per colour page. Discounts are available for bulk printing.

The computer user must ensure proper page setup before printing, as all pages printed are subject to the fees.

The Mackenzie Public Library reserves the right to suspend or cancel a library patron’s computer privileges for just cause, including but not limited to, destruction of library property, disturbance of other patrons, inappropriate treatment of staff, illegal use of the internet, or delinquent patron status.
