Services for New Parents
The Mackenzie Public Library has partnered with Baby Box University to be a distributor of free Baby Boxes for new parents. Baby Boxes are sustainably designed safe sleeping spaces. Baby Boxes (along with education) are given to all parents in Finland, which has a SIDS rate of less than half of the U.S. Our boxes include premium baby products to support new parents during this important time.
To qualify for your free baby box, simply register at www.babyboxuniversity.com, complete the free online Baby Box educational course, and bring in your completion confirmation number to show us at the Library after you’ve had your baby. We’ll give you a box on the spot, filled with all sorts of goodies for your new little one!

Books for Babies
Books for Babies is a program that encourages parents of infants between birth and 12 months to share books with their babies. Research has shown that the importance of reading to children begins at birth. By reading to their babies and by becoming regular library users themselves, parents help their babies develop language skills and start them on the path to success in reading and learning.
Our Books for Babies bags are distributed by the Public Health nurses at your first home visit after baby is born. Each bag contains 2 books, a sensory toy, a CD, information on Library programs, plus a coupon that you can present at the Library for another free board book!
Sponsored by the North Central Library Federation.
Don’t forget to check out our Babytime Program! It’s a great way to bond with your baby, start them on the path to early literacy skills, and meet other new parents in your community.
